Susan Katz: A Biographical Profile

Susan Katz

Susan Katz is the founder of Constructive Solutions, an innovative psychotherapy practice with offices in New York City and Rhinebeck, New York.

Before starting her practice, Ms. Katz earned recognition as a teacher, substance-abuse counselor and developer of successful and imaginative training programs in both the public and private sectors. At every stage of her career, she has been dedicated to one fundamental goal: helping people realize their full potential.

As Ms. Katz explains, that dedication is reflected in the name she chose for her practice: “Constructive Solutions refers not only to my company, but also to the way I work with my clients. The word ‘constructive’ underscores the fact that the work we do provides clients with a solid foundation of building blocks on which to create the lives they want. ‘Solutions’ emphasizes our belief that staying focused on our goals helps us overcome any obstacles or difficulties we may encounter.”

What distinguishes Constructive Solutions from other types of therapy is its ability to provide personalized treatment for each client. “I’ve never believed that just because two people share the same symptoms, they necessarily respond to the same treatment,” Ms. Katz points out. “Constructive Solutions takes the whole person into account, not just the symptoms.”

One of the services Ms. Katz offers is business consulting. It began when a client asked her to help him with some difficulties he was having with his business. Working together, they were able to pinpoint the source of the problems and develop a plan of action that soon had his company back on track. Through additional training and experience she has utilized her coaching and group facilitation skills to help companies increase their productivity.

“Corporate consulting calls on many of the same skill sets I use in my individual practice: observation, analysis and strategic planning,” Ms Katz notes. “Whether I’m working with individuals or organizations, I’m helping my clients find constructive solutions that enable them to achieve their goals.”
